How do you know it is green and has 4 pins if you haven't seen it? We need more information about what isn't working correctly and some symptoms to help you,

exactly ... or are we replacing sensors for poops and giglles

ORIGINAL: hubturn

There are three items thathave similar names. The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor G-62 is located in the large coolant pipe that runs across the back of the engine, on the drivers side. This sensorsends input to the fuel system. The Electronic Engine Coolant Temperature Switch, F-76,is also located in the same pipe, passenger's side, and sends info to the temp gage in the instrument cluster. The Coolant Fan Thermo Switch F-18/F54 is located in the radiator above the right lower hose, and controls the fans.Which one are you referring to?
Hubturn, I agree with U on this. I have Bentley manuals. I have '95 A6, 2.8 quattro and now having problems with low temp indications. I found G62 and see that it still is varying resistance with coolant temp changes. Have not compared it's resistances with coolant temps yet. I have to now check F76. It seems a 40 ohm resistor from terminal (T) of the F76 connector to ground should give a 230F [105c] reading on the gauge. Have U made any tests of F76 with ommeter or use a resistor to check gauge readings?

Can you post these pictures related to this question again. I am having the same issue with my 1998 Audi Cabriolet. i.e. code indicates replacing ECT and I have the part but I can't find it on the engine to replace it.

Can you post the image again? New to the forum and new to audi ('98 cabriolet). I have a check engine light with the code for ECT range, which I am told indicates the replacement of this sensor and like the original poster, I can't find the location of the sensor.
