Clutch problem?

RE: Clutch problem?
Why can't you shift?
Bad throwout bearing will grind or chirp or make any kind of noise, and indicate you have to change it, but it will still, until it grinds the fingers off, declutch the vehicle.
At least will save you the towing fee, even if you have to start the car in gear to get it to the garage.
Cheers,
George
BTW, 200, or less, DIY, 1500 Audi Dealer, guaranteed. Not easy for a beginner, but not super hard, either.

RE: Clutch problem?
I haven't tried to shift. I heard the noise and i stopped the car. If it is the throw out bearing, how hard is that to change? I' about to junk the car. should i just get under and drop the tranny if i'm going to junk it anyway?

RE: Clutch problem?
If you're gonna junk it, go ahead.
If you still wanna drive it, no real biggie, you just have to have some mechanical knowhow. They ain't easy to work on, but they are not real hard, either.
I've done them, if you work with your hands in your job, you should be able to do it, if you work at a desk, mebbe not.
Cheers,
George
