New to the forum so go easy on me!

I've been offered a 1990 2.2e coupe. with 120k on the clock. for £1500

Car in good general condition.

Just after some hints & tips as to what i shoud be looking for? anythign major that needs to have been done? anythign i should be checking for etc?

& what about the price? Bargain? about right or over priced?

the older the better they hold their value £1,500 is not bad for a average one, things to look for

tyres for uneven wear "tracking and curbing" it can be expensive to repair,

fuel tank and pipework for rotting,

service history isn't that important but a bonus "receipts are better"

wheel bearings " take it for a good drive"

the rest is just basic checks like oil/coolant/clutch/exhaust/tyres/body work

 

1500 i think is a good price, make sure no rust or just a little witch could be fixed.

went to have a look at it - but it didn't start without being jumped - it has been stood a while - is this likely to inidicative of future problems or just due to it being cold n damp at the moment?

anythign else i should be looking out for or geenral hints n tips much appreciated

Hi again everyone,

I bought the car as descrbed in this post back in March. I got it for 1200 quid. Since then i've had the front box n down pipe replaced, a new MOT (two new tyres) and put an extra couple of K miles on it.

However now i've been offered a company car.

Anyone want to hazard a rough guess to value?

I bought a 1995 2.0 coupe 2 months ago with 130k on the clock for £1600 - i'd say start from there

the 2.2e coupe will easley fetch £1500 plus its very desirable in the UK and noted as a classic in its own right

g plate 89 - 130k. Good conditions both body work and interior. No problmes with engine Helios blue colour. MOT til next August tax til next Feb.
