Audi 90 1988 Tranny Leak - A Fast One!
Hello All, Can someone help me identify my tranny leak? It's an auto and I get a stream of tranny fluid running out of one of the overflow holes. The fluid circulates just fine and the gaskets are good. My guess is torque converter seal. The tranny seems to operate just fine, just can't keep fluid in it. I'll be attempting to remove it here soon. Any tricks I could use to make it go easier? Thanks!!!!!

did it start happening recently or did you buy it that way and how do you know that it is circulating good ... have you done any auto trany work before ... does it leak when in park or when it reaches a certain temp ????

We towed the car 25 miles running and in nuetral. When I got it home we put a quart of fluid in and I was able to drive the car around and into the garage. While running it will leak a little fluid through the hole. When you put it in drive it comes out faster and puts that quart out in about 3 minutes. I have done plenty of workon cars but not real wild about having to pull the whole tranny out of this one. I'm having a hard time finding a manual for it to give me some tricks to pulling the tranny out as easily as possible. When the car just sits, it doesn't leak at all.
