93 audi 90 quattro (few general questions)

RE: 93 audi 90 quattro (few general questions)
i believe we are talking about the same thing but i call it a dimmer switch. does it have a dial in the front of the cluster to turn the lights bright/low?
the problem occurs on the circuit board before the dimmer, therefore cannot be the dimmer. voltage must becoming too high from the one wire. i have figured out which wire it is on the harness and will attempt to see what kind of voltage is ocming out with a volt meter.
maybe there is a problem from the source of the wire (possibly fuse box). if possible, i will try to just disable that wire, and run a new one with a switch (fused) so i can be sure it will not happen again. too bad i have to find another cluster now that should be fun!
by the way is it difficult to remove the fuse box on this car? its where the firewall is at the drivers side under the hood.
Thanks for all the help! George.

ya i hear all about the synthetics but they are more prone to leak on older motors, plain old 10w40 pennzoil will do just fine for the most part as will pennzoil filters its what we always used, up till like a 96 i wouldnt worry about the fancy oil.

wow, I remember posting first response for this thread, its from Aug 2005
I still run Mobil1. After couple regular oil jobs (3000 miles) it cleaned my engine, and now I am at 4000 Miles without oil change.
but I add oil time to time, because it leaks out, well leaked out a lot long ago, now its 1/2 a liter every 1000 miles or so.
I still use 0w-40, and M1-301 filter.
And I still got to do refresh on engine and probably my tranny as well.
Car stores some codes in the ECU, get them. If engine light is on, you can flash the codes. Do not stop the motor from running, or it might erase the codes.
