ok so im still just exploring my options but was just wondering. i know up till 83 audi was making a 4cyl 1.9 diesel and putting it in the 4k. and i think i remember reading some where once way back that the engine and drive train the the later model 5cyl was strong enough to convert it to a diesel pretty quick and easy... had anyone else heard of this? i have no doubt the drive train could handle it but is it feasible?

 

What is your question? Can you convert a 5 cyl 2.2 gas to Diesel? Audi did that way before that. I had an 80 and an 82. Actual, from the factory Diesels. 5 speeds. Great cars. Had well over 100 thou miles of my own on them when I got rid of them. Averaged 33 MPG. 5000's so pretty big cars.

Other than the starting circuitry, I think all you need is a wire to the fuel system to open/ close the fuel valve. Start/stop.

I thought the motor was a 1.6 not 1.9L.
I have put a 83 audi 5 cyl turbo diesel in a 1988 90 quattro that works great. Wasn't easy though. So I'm sure the drive train can handle it.
