Default 1991 Audi 100, electrical

We had an overheating issue, think I've got that tracked down to the 3 prong fan switch. Getting some funky resistance from that. Anyway, the dash guage still doesn't work. I assume thats the sensor under the engine coolant exit on the head. What wires go to the engine and what goes to the guage. If I'm completely off track, let me know, thanks!

i think you might be refering to the multi temp swithc ... the temp guage responds to it and so do other things

Well, I got the fan to work - only seems to be running on high though. Car doesnt overheat. The coolant temp guage is still dead - almost...now it only works when the fan actually turns on. Any tips?
