Default 1990 v8 quattro tranny question

So Im new to the audi scene kinda, brother has a 91 200 tq 20v that has had extensive work done. Anyway we picked up a 91 v8 to swap some body parts and decided against it. The car is now being driven and has an odd tranny problem. Sometimes the car revs to 2k rpms before grabbing and accelerates like its in a higher gear. I did notice that the gear selector in the dash was illuminating all gears engaged. If I restart the car and it just shows drive is engaged it drives as normal. I am assuming something electrical since the gauges are all messed up. Any thoughts??

I believe that all lights on the dash selector indicartes that the vehicle is in limp mode. If it clears when you restart it -you are probably right about it being an electrical problem but it might be a failing sensor. see if you can pull the codes It might help determine what is causing the problem.

I have the 3 volume set for the 100 & 200QT but nothing for the V8 so I can help much beyond that
