1986 Audi Quattro

RE: 1986 Audi Quattro
I think the fuel pump is in tank, under the rear seat.
Again, if you need a page of the manual, holler. I haven't scanned it all, but am getting there.
Break the line at the filter inlet, put a hose on it, strong enough to contain about 70 psi, and stick it into a container. Turn the key to on position. If you get fuel flow, the pump works. Try to put a 70 psi restriction on it, if it still flows, the pump is good.
Cheers,
George

Gmatov, while I have a lot of respect for you a lot of times you just throw out stuff that has no merit and mislead people who are looking for some direction. The entire Audi fleet is not based on the Audi 5000! I had an Audi 4000 and the Coupe is based on the same chassis. The fuel tank is behind the rear seat back rest not under it.
From my 4000, Quattro, Coupe manual.

RE: 1986 Audi Quattro
I'll be damned, that looks like my old '79 5000's system.
I'm not sure about the tank location or orientation, never had to work on it, but did have to replace the pump.
It was located inside what you could call the frame rail, under the rear pass side door. A little of a PITA to remove, refit, not much room.
That's what I get for assuming things. My diesels, '80 and '82, the tank was under the rear seat. The 3 5000s I have had since, ditto.
Thanks for pointing that out. If I ever bought one and had to work on the tank, might have lifted the seat and thought someone had stolen it.
I don't think that was misleading, though, just uninformed.
Cheers,
George

RE: 1986 Audi Quattro
Putting a Chevrolet motor in an Audi has already been done. Thing is, it was done in a 5000, not a UR Quattro. If this dude's actually got a legit UR Quat (and NOT a Coupe Quat) and puts an American 8 in it, while ballsy and cool, its kinda blasphemy in Audi world.
Furthermore, it seems like the tunability of the 10vt motor has kinda been snuffed in this. Eliminating CIS allows for a Big Turbo upgrade and a pretty ballsy car if all is right. Check out 034efi if you wanna see real-powerful old audis (with audi motors) Hell, you can see my EFI/turbo upgrade in my sig. Its not as "nice" as many, but the car runs pretty well. heh

RE: 1986 Audi Quattro
plz, do not get something stupid and put it in something nice.
the I5 has a huge potential.
I was thinking and planing to push 50psi in dual turbo setup (series) and use supercool initiative to increase the air to air intercooler above 100%.
and no, no gasoline, propane powered.
