It looks just like the third one (https://www.audiforums.com/upfiles/1...23C77A8E08.jpg) exactly like that one.. Says Audi on the back Quattro and under the license plate mount it says COUPE.. I'm going to leave it like it is but there are a few mody things I would like to do to make it more aerodynamic.. I would also like to paint it but I'm going to keep the audi rings and such just a different color .. maybe I'm not sure yet.. I still need to get this car running.. Does anyone have any detailed steps/instructions on priming the fuel system? I dont have the money yet to buy a manual and I have googled this to heck and back heh.. So if anyone could help me on that that would be much appreciated I would love to get this car on the road again!

Thanks,
-Chris

DON'T a F@#*%$ FOOL. Like the old time saying goes “Only a fool get lucky!” Get the VIN verified at a dealer or something buy sheer stupid luck you just might be in possession of the only one that was officially sold in America as 86 model! Otherwise it might be a gray market car (private import.) If you have papers (title) it could worth a couple of grand as is! Screwing around with the Coupe can greatly decrease it's value.

Post some pics!

The figures shown are as provided by Audi of America,

Coupe Quattro sales figures
1982 - 285
1983 - 240
1984 - 65
1985 - 73
1986 - 1

The guy who used to own this car took pride in haveing rare cars such as only one in America type cars.. Soo it could be.. One of my dad's old friends owned it to my uncle and then my uncle gave it to my dad for him to get it off his property. The title is lost so we are going to have to file for a lost title and what not but other than that.. Yea I will get it checked out at the dealer.. So I wont paint it then heh.. But it does need some body work.. There are chips in the paint and the front wind dam has 2 large cracks in it like it has been ran into something heh.. (I think its called a wind dam..?)

But now anyways could anyone give me information on getting this car running? I would much rather have it running than have a couple grand.. Heh... So if anyone has any information on how I am to go about priming the system and getting this car running.. I would be very much appreciated.. Also I'm trying to get my digital camera back from my dad and once I get it back I'll hook you guys up with some pics.. Please someone help me in the mean time?

Actually.. This car could be an 85.. I'm not sure though.. On the sticker on the inside of the drivers side door way that says its built to erm.. American specifications (I think it said..) it says that it was produced 5/85.. *sigh*.. So maybe its not the 86?.. That sucks heh.. But it is a Coupe Quattro.. And I am now wondering if it has a turbo.. The intake says Turbo on it and what not.. And I'm pretty sure it is.. But I found some "Maintinance Papers" in the glove compartment and they have different sign offs for the maintinance of either a turbo or a non turbo and they are all signed on the non turbo.. Hmm.. I also think that the fuel pump is bad.. I checked the fuel pump fuse and it was bad so I replaced it.. Then I tried to start and it just cranked and cranked.. Hmm..

The 5/85 production date doesn't relay mean much there should be a sticker under the hood or near the drivers side door that says something like "this vehicle conforms to 1986 applicable model year" unless it is gray market import and was federalized.

First obvious question is do you have fuel, more like a full tank? When you turn on the key can you hear a buzzing noise coming from the back? If not the pump is not working. You can also try jumping the fuel pump relay. Pull the relay and note where contacts 30 and 87 are and where they fit on the fuse/relay panel. Use some spade connectors and 12 or 10 gauge wire to make a jumper cable.

If you intend on keeping or making it run, you have to invest in a Bentley Manual.

this is a bit of a strange post but i used to own an 86 coupe quattro non turbo, as did my mate, hes a mechanic in a family business and he modded his rather well without chips and all this. ( a part of his business is engines for the porsche challenge cup in england so they know their stuff and his audi is definitely his passion) You should be able to reach him here as the business has moved recently and ive not had chance to call him recently. EMC Engines / EMC Motorsport 0121 328 2225 BTW. this is in england so you will need to dial 01144 121 328 2225 and remember that england is 8 hours ahead of pacific coast time. Mention that rob davis in america pointed you toward a man who should know quite a bit about these models of audi's. Hope this helps even if a little, take it easy, rob.

You think this friend of yours will provide me with information? Will he charge me? Also what type of information do you think he will be able to provide me with? (like websites, verbal information, catalogs, dealers, etc..?) Thanks for the help!

Also is the fuel pump for this car in the line somewhere or is it in the gas tank? I should have this car running this weekend.. Hopefully heh.. But looking ahead, after I get this car running what would you guys suggest I do first? I have an OK income and can probably afford almost anything you suggest with a little saveing.. So any suggestions on what I should do to the engine, suspension, etc. I would greatly appreciate it! I know a few sites that sell parts for this car.. (Atleast I think its for this car??) But just to make sure what would this car be classified as? Would it be listed just as 1986 Audi Quattro? 1986 Audi Quattro Coupe? 1986 Audi Quattro Coupe Turbo? Or maybe like 1986 Audi QC Turbo? Could someone help me out on what it would be. Thanks!

This car will only be a weekend driver so economy isn't an issue I have a car for economy already heh.. This will be my "cruising" car heh heh.. You guys know what I'm talking about I'm sure ^.-..

Thanks!
-Chris

The fuel pump should be located under the chassis close to the fuel tank.

This is the best Audi Quattro Coupe site that I can think of!

hey bud, I was a bit tired last night my mates name is alex eacock, I doubt he would charge you for advice over the phone keep in mind hes in birmingham, england. He would definitely know where to get alot of various part and possibly who could ship over seas, he may be a bit sketchy on american parts distributors but he may have ideas. As for the title of the car mine was listed as an 86 coupe quattro non turbo, 10 valve 2.2 litre (liter in the states) linear 5 cylinder. god i loved my car, I would agree with the others in not changing it, my old coupe used to smoke most people in the town and it sounded absolutely awesome, I'm real jealous of you right now here in the east bay all ive seen of those models is 2 litre coupe gt's with fuel injection decals on the back, but they're only 2 wheel drive. one mans trash...... sigh. Also hes got quite a strong english/ birmingham accent so be prepared and please mention my name otherwise he will be a bit confused. cheers and good luck with the project, rob.
