TDI coming to US?

RE: TDI coming to US?
Here's the situation as I understand it. Audi won't bring the TDI stateside until they can get it to be 50 state compliant on emissions and such. California and a few others are killing it, and Connecticut may be the last nail in the coffin. Our wonderful governor is attempting to ban the sale of turbodiesel engines in the state of CT. And if Audi can't sell them in all 50 states, they won't send them to the states at all.

RE: TDI coming to US?
Talking in KM means nothing to american's...someone translate that 700km for the silly americans pls.(me)
Hybrid's are boring and not that efficient vs. diesel, and yes you can thank my state for ruining that for all in the US.
But electrics should be a blast, most are probably going to be pretty quick.
Check out tesla motors..pure electric sports car 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds...There doesn't have to be huge sacrifices like the current hybrids, we just need more wind/solar energy sources then go pure electric motors.

Besides, it's a simple conversion to remember. Roughly .62 miles per 1km so 700km ~ approx 434 miles

I think the hybrid cars are going to mark the end of tuner cars but I sure hope not.

Hybrid cars are quite innovative & earth-friendly but there are still some stuffs & qualities that tuner cars outstand them

RE: TDI coming to US?
I sure hope that Audi brings the A3 TDI here and soon. I would buy one in a heartbeat. The Jetta TDI will be on sale in the fall of this year so I see no reason that we will not see the Audi's with them available in all models, just like in Europe.

RE: TDI coming to US?
Over two months later in this post and anybody knows if the Q7 3.0L TDI is available in the US by now??
I am thinking of getting a Q7. I run all my other vehicles on biodiesel and therefore am looking for a diesel model.

RE: TDI coming to US?
I don't think its available anywhere in the states yet. Motor Trend has a side article about the TTS TDI and it sounds promising in terms of performance and a claimed 50 MPG, but they said no word on availability in the US.
Is it the variance in state emissions thats holding things up?
