Default TDI coming to US?

Anyone know why Audi doesn't offer the TDI stateside like VW does? I rented a TDI A3 a few months back...fantastic. And the mileage I got with that thing was even better.

I am not a big fan of diesels so personally I hope they don't bring it to the United States.

I wasn't either before I bought my first TDI, but own one and you'll change your tune quickly! I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they came to the US. I modded the hell out of my TDI and it was a torque monster. Just tap your right foot in any gear at any speed and your butt would sink back into the seat. It wouldn't win you drag races, but real-world driving was awesome. So was the 45+ MPG!!!

Cheers!

Yeah, I've rented both an A3 and a BMW 320d with the same results. Personally I think the U.S. should give up hybrid cars and embrace diesels like they have over here. Combine the TDI with biodiesel and you've got not only a great car making tons of power, but also at least a partial answer to our environmental, economic and national security problems.

I think the hybrid cars are going to mark the end of tuner cars but I sure hope not.

Na, we will just have to learn how to tune a hybrid instead of a gasoline engine.

People in america don't like diseals b/c they associate them with pouring out black smoke and that black smoke with pollution. It will take a long time for them to realize that TDI cars don't really have smoke.

I myself would buy a diseal if I could.

I personally think that the hybrids would work much better with the diesel technology. You can still modify to get the best out of the diesel engine, but save money and fuel with the hybrid option. You'd get the best of both worlds. Economy all of the time and power when you need it!

Cheers!
