Red versus yellow rear blinkers
I'm trying to understand why Audi puts red blinkers on the back end of US destined cars while the rest of the world they have yellow. I hate those red blinkers. I guess I've lived overseas too long. I've gotten use to seeing yellow blinkers and have come to appreciate them over the red. Now, moving back to the US I want my new Audi with yellow rear blinkers. How can I get them? Buy them in Europe and bring them back with me? Is that the only option I have? Will the wiring be the same?
Thanks for any input, ideas, comments.

I dont think LED bulbs would do the job not only will the light be concentrated thus less visible in an angle, but you will need to update your blinker relay to take LED so they dont flash very fast (kind of like it would if you had a burnt bulb). I would think yellow and red will result in orange. I would recommend going after market lights from oversees.

As far as a double blink pattern or a CAN error, you can go one of 2 routes.
1) Get 2 of the 5 ohm 50 watt "load resistors" from eBay (about $7 each) and wire them in parallel with the tail light turn signal bulbs. That would fool the CAN system into thinking it's still got incandescent bulbs there, and all would look normal.
-or-
2) Wire up a 194 bulb to the circuit (providing the resistance needed, and wrap the bulb in a paper towel, then foil, then tape. With an ambient air temp of 73F, the bulb will only get up to 121F. Ignition temp of a paper towel is far beyond that, so you would be ok (if you're worried about it catching fire).

Audi installs the lamps/lenses for the U S market that are required by Federal Motor vehicle Safety Standards [FMVSS].
Bureaucrats from industrialized nations have been meeting regularly to 'discuss' adoption of universal safety and other vehicle standards. They seem to be enjoying themselves but have not produced much to justify the expense of such meetings to txpayers. I'm sure you aren't surprised. <g>

Sometimes I think they should do away with turn signal indicator lights entirely because hardly anybody uses them ...but seriously, I agree, amber is what should be used in the rear with amber side repeaters required as they are in Europe. I love the integrated repeaters in the side mirror housings, btw. I think they should be required too as they can be seen at more than a 180 degree angle.

they do make leds now that wont flash fast. But ur going to pay for them. i know cuz i have leds throughout the entire car. Front flashers rear flashers reverse lights interior lights. just gotta know which ones will work correctly. Trial and error my friends.
