automobile magazine also confirmed it, so it might actually happen. they also said it will have a dual-clutch auto, but no mention of a manual. which would suck *****...

 

if we're talking pure performance, than ya dsg is superior. its just no fun[&o]

 

Drive a DSG with paddle shifters and tell me its no fun. Not gonna happen.

 

If they bring back the ol' V-6 I'll be stoked!

anything without a clutch just isn't for me. you might as well just stick a computer in your car to mash down the throttle and shift for you as well. some punk lines up next to you, and all you gotta do is sit back and watch your car do all the work for you. at least with clutch, not all shifts are perfect, and it requires some sort of skill, not just "oh look its about to hit the rev limiter, let me just tap this stick now" i just get more satisfaction driving a manual

BMW's new V8 is a bit lighter than the previous straight six, and still maintains a healthy 100hp per liter, naturally aspirated. And the M3's new 8 redlines around 8 grand, not too shabby.

 

Yeah, I would definitely be in favor of a V8 like the new M3 has. But still, I love the idea of them going back to a turbo six. Not that it matters - I won't be lining up to buy one unless Ed McMahon shows up at my door with a big cardboard check with lots of zeroes on it.

 

I just read up on the new features on Quattro V .... very impressive. I also read somewhere that specs had been released in Sept. '06 ?? is this true? I can't imagine that Audi would release the specs that far ahead of its production release.

 

Choas anything without a clutch isnt fun and you dont need skill ....tell that to any f1 driver or lemans racer.they've both been racing with paddles since the early to mid ninties.Paddle shifters are unique......a manual you can get in a dodge neon.

Also i dont think the new a4's look much like a bmw......bmw has what they call"fire surface styling" .......i think all german cars are started to go to far with styling..look at new vw's they look like over sized toyotas.......bmws have the lines on their cars going everywhere.benz is making everything bigger....bigger grilles bigger headlights bigger everything...and audi is straying away from the bauhaus styling that finally gave the company an image.

I wish audi would go back to twin turboed v6's.

 

+1 on the force-inducted V6 options, although I wouldn't cry to mama if they wanted to start boosting their V8s on a regular basis.
