Default Audi CVT Class action suit - P0706 Return Code

Just got some great news from Audi USA Customer Care...

I was looking up the PRNDS Flashing issue which I got info from on here then ran over to Autozone. They pulled the codes and I got the P0706 Code which we all know usually means the TCU/TCM needs replacement. After some additional research I found out about the recent class action settlement. I'm NOT the original owner so I was a bit concerned.

Anyhow, long story short, it was confirmed that I don't need to be the original owner for Audi to fix the issue.

Below is a copy of the convo with Customer support.

Please wait. An Audi Product Specialist will be with you shortly.
Shelby M. says:
Hello Bruce Delaney. My name is Shelby M.. How can I help you?
Bruce Delaney says:
Hello, I purchased a 2006 A4 Cabriolet the thursday before last. It has just under 57k miles on it and I'm getting Code P0706 back from the check engine light. After reading I under stand thats likely the TCU in the CVT Transmission and also read that Audi has just settled a class action suit stating it covers those repairs up to 100K miles and 10 years.
Shelby M. says:
Congratulations on your A4, Bruce, I'm sorry to hear that you are having concerns with your vehicle. Have you taken it to an authorized Audi dealership as of yet?
Bruce Delaney says:
No, I it just started flashing the code to me as I was out for a drive, I pulled into an autozone and had them pull the error code for me.
Shelby M. says:
Okay, I understand. I would recommend taking your vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership to have this addressed. Are you familiar with any in your area?
Bruce Delaney says:
The closest one is a bit away from me... can you tell me if this issue would be covered under the class action suit since I"m not the original owner
Shelby M. says:
If you provide me with your contact information an VIN number I can look to see if there are any open campaigns on the vehicle, however ultimately the vehicle would need to be looked at by a dealership to know for sure.
Bruce Delaney says:
The VIN is (Redacted)
Shelby M. says:
Thanks, Mr. Delaney. Could I have your mailing address please, telephone number, and email address?
Bruce Delaney says:
(Redacted)
Shelby M. says:
Thank you for that information.
Shelby M. says:
Give me just one moment while I check to see if there are any open campaigns on your vehicle.
Bruce Delaney says:
I didn't purchase this from an Audi Dealer, Should I contact the dealer I purchased from first? I did get an extended warranty from them as well but I don't believe it would cover the TCU/TCM
Bruce Delaney says:
It's just a powertrain warranty... and doesn't mention electronics with the Transmission
Shelby M. says:
I see that your vehicle does have a Warranty Extension for the CVT transmission. What I would recommend doing is visiting your local Audi dealership so that they can take a look at it for you.
Bruce Delaney says:
Does it matter that I'm not the original owner... I'm getting conflicting reports on the internet regarding that. I trust the internet about as far as I can see in the dark though... LOL
Shelby M. says:
I completely understand. Sometimes the internet is not very reliable. It doesn't matter that you are not the original owner.
Shelby M. says:
The warranty extension stays with the vehicle.
Bruce Delaney says:
Phew, load off of my mind... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!
Shelby M. says:
My pleasure. The dealership can take a look at it for you, confirm the code, and as long as the concern is pertaining to that warranty extension it will be covered under it.
Bruce Delaney says:
Shelby if you were in front of me I'd give you a thank you hug!
Shelby M. says:
Well thanks!
Bruce Delaney says:
Is there any way I can get a copy of this conversation for my records?
Shelby M. says:
Enjoy your sunday evening, Bruce.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Needless to say, I'm a happy camper!!!

Default Update

Just got off the phone with the service writer at my local dealership. He pulled the codes from my car last night, confirmed the code, submitted the claim to Audi USA, Ordered the new TCU last night and expects the car should be ready tonight!

He will let me know if he has any other suspicions about the transmission while they have it apart and do a 21 point inspection free of charge as well.
