Audi A7 and S7 coming to a showroom near you?
The four door coupe look has become all the rage, especially in the luxury market. The Mercedes Benz CLS has had a firm grasp of this small, exclusive market but rumors suggest that Audi will be dropping the new A7 to go head to head with the Benz CLS. Even though Mercedes has a head start in the market, Audi plans to make a grand entrance with a new hard-top convertible A7, offering all of the interior and passenger room of a luxury sedan and the comfort of a ragtop…without the “soft top” of course.
While it is all still speculated, we can expect to see the A7 sedan, both in fixed and retractable roof forms, offering the current six cylinder engine lineup from Audi, as well as an S7 model likely packing a V10 powerplant. The AMG fighter of the lineup will hopefully be the new RS7, which could offer the twin turbocharged V10 now offered in the RS6 models.
Along with a variety of engines and trimlines, we can also expect to see a handful of transmission options including your basic automatic and manual transmissions, along with high-tech Tiptronic automatic and dual-clutch performance gearboxes in both six and seven speed form.
While just rumors, the looming auto show season could likely bring about some exciting additions for Audi including the new mid-engine roadster to replace the Audi TT and now the new A7 could offer a full sized luxury option for drop top lovers.
