Upgrade stock speakers
#4
if you want to keep the stock head unit, look into replacing the factory speakers. Typically you will need something like a LC8i to convert the signals to pre-amp and then of course some amps. The Alpine PDX line is nice, they are small, clean sounding and powerful. After the amp of course is your choice of speakers. You will find different opinions everywhere you go and each dealer will push who ever they have the best agreement with.
I've had more cars than I will admit to my wife and or divorce lawyer and each of them had something done to them.
My M.O is to typically leave the factory head unit do as I mentioned above. A good set of amps and speakers will give you all you need. Find an installer that will take the time to understand your goals and what you listen to.
One very important item for me when doing an upgrade is clarity. I cannot have a radio that clips...sorry amps that clip for all those that want to chime in on that.
Listen to your radio and think about what it is you are missing. Many people focus just on the sub and think that replacing it or adding one will cover everything you want and most cases this is wrong. Take the time to listen to the system. You may find that you are missing the mid bass too (above 90 Hrz). This is where a little planning will make the end something to enjoy.
Look into what speakers you like and start with them in the right configuration for your taste
