Tires people are using on their B8

I went with Michelin tires
I got Michelin Pilot super sports also for their great reviews. 245/40/18.I have about 1000 miles on them and so far i can say:
They grip extremely well, tested them on the track and they are a good street/track combo
They are very light tires, so you reduce some weight (if you care about such things)
Supposed to be smoother and quieter than the Pirelli All-Season stock tires, but I don't notice a significant difference. I did change my wheels tho, so i cant make a strict tire-to-tire comparison for these things.
got mine for just under $1000 with the rebate on tirerack

The Continental DWS tires are "all-season" tires, not "winter" tires. All-season tires are a compromise tire. If you want tires that are good on ice, put a set of true winter tires like Blizzacks or Alpin Ice on your car.
The Michelin Pilot Super Sports are, I believe, high performance summer tires. I have Pilot Sport PS2's on one of my cars which I won't drive when there is any snow on the road. They are terrific handling tires, but don't expect them to do well when the temp gets down to about 35 degrees or lower.
I have a set of Blizzacks for my B5 A4q that go on around Thanksgiving and come off in mid April. Well worth the investment. The car will go almost anywhere, limited only by limited ground clearance. They are pretty good on ice, also.
I have the DWS tires on my BMW 325, a rear driver. If you put a few extra pounds of air in them, the "squishy" feeling mentioned in another post is pretty much eliminated. Again, they are a compromise tire. Even so, I found them to be pretty darn good two winters ago when we had a lot of snow. Again, considering they are on a rear wheel drive car. Overall, I really like them and think they are very good value.

Currently running Toyo Proxes 4's on the Avant. They're working very well thus far. I ran them on an old 911 I had, and was impressed then too.

I put on Goodyear Comfortred Touring Tires. They rode nicer than the Pirelli p6's and are V-Rated (150 mph) which given the fact that my car is tweaked are necessary. Quiet on the open road and excellent in the rain. Waiting to see how they work in snow as we had the warmest winter on record in PA last year. Another advantage is the 70K warranty.
