Default Tires people are using on their B8

just wanted to see what people are using on their cars for tires. i was looking at the Michelin MXM4's but they are about 300 a piece (seems a little pricey). what have you guys found that works well for a decent price?

Thanks!

Take a look at the relatively new to market Yokohama AVID ENVigor. I put them on my daily driver back in October and I was so impressed with them that I've since put them on my wife's 2012 GTI and my son's 1998 A4.

What are your needs?

I went with the Conti DWS and am very happy. Had them on my WRX as well before I traded it in..

The problem with the DWSs is that they're pretty squishy from a handling perspective. I tried them after having had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss and couldn't tolerate the (relatively) sloppy handling. The Yokohama AVID ENVigors are as inexpensive and every bit as quiet as the DWSs but have the handling of the Pilot Sports; very much a win-win in my book.

I'm happy with the Pirelli PZeros on the wagon right now that came with it, but I know they're going to be pretty expensive to replace if I go that route when it's time to buy new ones.

I also prefer all-weather tires. Living in Maryland, the roads are often wet most days out of the month and these do not grip very well on a slick surface.

Whatever you buy..... Only buy Michelin, Continentals, or Goodyear. In that order.

Everything else is garbage on an Audi. Erratic tread wear and excessively noisy.

We get tire noise complaints all day long. Especially from Toyos and Yokohama.

Too funny. The Yokohama AVID ENVigors I have on my car are quieter with 10,000 miles on them than the factory (Goodyear Eagles in this case) tires were the day the car rolled off the showroom floor. Here's betting the Yokohamas will still be quieter after 50,000 miles.

my car came stock with pirelli p6 four season and they were fantastic all season tires. in the winter they worked great but the tread wore out quickly.

so i got a set of conti DWS for the summer and another set of conti extreme winter contacts for the winter. both tires are fantastic. the DWS are horrible for cold winters since the compound is harder than most tires (it's a higher milage tire). the DWS handle great during the summer.

I run the conti DWS in the winter and they're great. They're actually rated as one of the best (if not the best) all season tires for snow traction.

If you run separate tires in the winter and summer, I'd go with a high performance summer tire in the summer rather than an all season. You could have just got the conti DW since you wouldn't be driving in snow.
