Anyone know anything about the car making one soft beep about 10 - 20 seconds after moving from a cold start? No warning/error indications and it does not recur until after the next cold start. If I turn on the ignition and sit for a while, there is no beep until after I am moving.

Ideas?

I didn't bother looking at MB this time because we need a wagon, there are no CXXX wagons and the E-wagon is too big for just us two. We loved the 2002 C320 Wagon and it gave us 9+ years of trouble-free and enjoyable driving but it was time for new. We considered only the A4 Avant, 328ix wagon and the Acura TSX wagon (very briefly). Compared to the old C320, the A4 is tighter in suspension and handling (natch), has more low-end torque, is smaller inside and there is a trade-off in convenience features. The BMW had a very dated interior, was not nearly as responsive off-the-mark unless one floored it and was tighter-handling but only at high speeds. In other words, for about 95% of our usual driving, the A4 was more fun to drive.

So far, very happy with the 2011 A4 Avant Premium Plus with nav and chrome exhaust tips. It was the last item that clinched it.

Here is a new piece of data. Pulled the car out of the garage and sat there in the driveway waiting for my wife to lock up the house. Car was in park with the emergency brake on and I was fooling with my flash drives. Then, about 15-20 seconds after start-up, there's the beep. No changes in an display and no ongoing changes in operation. Curiouser and curiouser.
