shifting, transmission issue
anyone having issues with shifting in their 2.0t automatics? we have a 2009 avant that does three things...1) upon starting some days it makes a loud growl when put in gear the first time, 2) upon slowing down (not quite to stop) then pressing the accelerator there is a definite jerk/grab, 3) during normal driving tach revs to 3, 4, 5k then transmissions grabs.

The loud growl/roar is your air pump...Audi apparently didn't consider how rediculously loud the pumps were but apparently they are designed to be just as annoying as they are. This usually only last for the first 30 seconds or so of driving.
The shifting issue seems to be dialed into the software as well...ironically it is because Audi wants smooth shifts...the shift takes too long and if you get on the throttle in the middle of a shift, it will result in a nice little lurch/jerk after the software "re-decides" what gear you want. Hopefully Auid will reprogram the software and offer a free update/reflash to all 09 owners.
The third issue sounds like it may be a issue...how is your fluid level? More details??

I have a 2009 3.2 with about 1500 miles and the transmission is a little wonky. I also experience the lurch/jerk in the middle of a shift when I get back on the throttle. Dealer told me that for the first 500 miles the transmission "learns" about your habits. I'm way over that mileage and it's still jerky.
