Need for Turbo Timer
New owner of a 2011 A4 B8. Not looking to improve performance but would like to insure longevity. Have been reading about turbo timers for the Audis. Will a turbo timer help an A4 that is being used primarily for city driving?

i thought about getting one too but i didn't after considering the potential electrical "ghosts" that can be caused by installing one. before i shut the engine down i don't drive with gusto. i tend to keep the RPMs below 2000 for a minute or so before i shut it down.
it would be detrimental to floor it and then shut the engine down right away. i'm sure audi has some built-in protection to guard against damage caused from doing so.

turbo timers are really for performance users who push hard and don't have the time to cool down before shutting them off.
Audi's turbos for everyday drivers will generally last the life of the engine without any extra attention or care.
The only ones that had issues were generally phased out in 2004.
B7 models only go bad when owners increase boost and pretty much blow them up.
