Default a manual '09 A4... rare?

So, i'm looking to buy a manual transmission '09 A4, but i've been told it's a very rare car; and through my search i've only come across maybe 3 in the country. Does anyone know why it's so hard to find one? Is there some reason? Something wrong with them? Or is it that they're soooo nice, no one wants to let theirs go once they have it? lol

I'm just kind of curious as to why... if anyone knows. Thanks!

Could it be that they didn't sell that many to begin with?

Manual tranny sales in the US of all cars are a very, very small minority.

Most A4s sold are automatics. Not easy to find a used manual tranny A4 in the configuration you want.

One possibility is that most '09s you will find right now are off-lease, my guess is that AT appeals more to people that lease.

yeah.... all good points, unfortunately

I REALLY want a manual, and a REALLY want an '09. I've found a bunch of '08s that are manual. I guess I'll continue my search for a while longer before I concede and settle for an automatic.

I drive a 2009 MT A4. I had to specifically order it from the dealer, because they did not stock any on the lot. In fact, my salesman tried to tell me that the car didn't come in manual, but I knew better.

Love mine, and I would imagine most owners with the manual would be reluctant to part with it!

Don't settle for the automatic. You may find my thread elsewhere on this forum where I was bringing up the MT vs AT dilemma and my conclusion is very clear: the MT fits the 2.0 TFSI a lot better and you get so much more from the engine with the MT

Amen brother.

If you want an AT that is fine, but don't settle if you want the MT. You won't be disappointed if you wait a little longer to find the car that you want.

So I got it!!

Funny story, I started this search looking for an '08, mostly for cost reasons; then decided to switch to an '09, for styling; expanded to '10 to give me more chance of finding a MT; then finally ended up getting a brand new '11 from the dealer! LOL

Went to my local dealer to test drive, found out they could get me exactly what i wanted, and the price wasn't terrible (the price was good for what I got... just more than i originally planned when i started looking for my '08), so i jumped on it.

Got myself a brand new '11 A4 Quattro Premium Plus, MT, Black, Titanium Pkg

I'm super excited!! Unfortunately, it was at another dealership, so i'm having them ship it here, so i don't have it yet But it should be here next week!!!

Thanks to all of you telling me not to settle for an AT!

Same here. Mine was the only one in the US that had the configuration I wanted.

Premium Plus, Sport Package, White on black, 6 spd.

Mine will be off lease on January 7, 2013... if you can wait.
