Hi My audi a4 b8 having a weird clunking noise coming from underneath the car when changing gears ( doesnt matter the engine turns off or while driving ) Im a bit worrying about this. Can you guys let me know what is wrong with my car ? Thanks a lot

How many miles are on the car. Do we assume it shifts OK and there are no gear noises. It sounds like a problem with the linkage . I would suspect it might be a bushing that is worn out and you are getting metal to metal contact causing the noise. You can either pull the shifter boot and look in from there or get the car on a lift and look from underneath as someone shifts it.

 

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The car is 94000kms and it shifts ok however it does shudder on take off ( only on first gear ). The noise i heard is coming from underneath the car. Thanks

 

I'd have to see the linkage in action on a lift to be sure of anything
