2012 A4 S-line Dead Steering
I have 3 A4s, a 1999, a 2005, and a 2012 S-line, all bought new.
After driving the 2012 S-line for 40000 miles I'm disappointed in the steering because of a lack of feedback and road feel.
When my dealer asked how I liked the car after driving it for a while, I explained why the steering really sucks.
For me, getting on the highway is closer to a lateral-g test than a merge. When reaching maximum cornering force, I expect the tires to start to rumble and a distinct vibration to excite the steering wheel which I can feel. When I push the car a little more, I expect that vibration to change as the tires fight for grip. When I push the car a little more and the car starts to slide I expect that vibration to change yet again.
My dealer responded with a mouth open blank stare and said they had never heard of such a thing.
Eliminating the steering feedback definitely reduces the sportiness of the car.
The steering is dead numb on my S-line, why?
Is there anything I can do, a buried SW option maybe?
Thank you.
