Well Ive got a UK Spec 2008 B8 S Line which will probably be exactly the same as you guys get in the US. What exactly do you need to know at the moment?

Just some info from a guy who works on the sales side of an Audi dealership, I'll give you some facts followed by my opinion(which you can take or leave)

The new A4 has 3 levels Premium, Premium+, Prestige. You also have the 2.0 and 3.2 engine option as well. For now the only models available in the states are Quattro Automatic.

At my dealerships the 2.0 Premiums are in the $34k-35k range
Premium+ is around $38k
Prestige is $40k

The 3.2 starts at Premium+ at just over $40k
Prestige is $43k

Add $2500 for Nav at any level, but that also includes a backup camera.

If you like the car but that's a little to pricey, the non-quattro and manual transmission models will be available at the beginning of 2009 for less money.

*OPINION PART* I wouldn't buy the 3.2(265hp/243tq) for any reason. The 2.0(211hp/258tq) is almost as quick and gets better fuel mileage and is cheaper. Seriously, if you have been considering a 3.2, make sure you test drive both engines before you buy. You might be surprised and save yourself some coin. As of right now the cars are selling at MSRP or very close. Eventually that will change, because A4 supplies won't be limited like the A5 or S5. So if you wait until the first of the year, you should be able to save some money that way too. Leasing may never be like it was, not because of Audi, but because of the market. Some brands are completely stopping leasing. BMW lost $372 million due to bad leases last year. No one can afford to keep doing business that way, I hope I'm wrong though.
Sorry for the long post, but that's my $.02.

If you have any questions just shoot me a PM. I'm a car guy 1st, then an Audi employee.

See i know these cars are pricey is the Premium 34-35K with tax and all that other stuff or just asking price. I'm interested in that one because it's 4cylinders that is the main reason i will probably be driving from San Diego, CA to Los Angeles every so often cuz i'm stationed in San Diego and I'm from Los Angeles so that would benefit me in soo many ways. This will come in automatic correct??? What i want to know exactly is, will I be able to bargain the price if not?? how much exactly will the Premium cost me as is with tax??? I want to see exactly where I stand or if I'm just dreaming. I don't think I would ever LEASE a nice car like this though I love the model, the style, the manufacturer, the fact that its European and from what I've heard they are trustworthy. and 4 cylinders makes it SOOOO much better. I was just hoping you can throw me a bone here or if I should just move on. thank you very much.Btw where do you work?? lol

I'm in Atlanta, GA, so the other coast...lol.

The cheapest car I have on the lot at the moment is $35,005
That is a premium 2.0T Quattro Automatic.

The absolute base price in my region is $33,525(the FWD will be $2000 less)
All of that is pre-tax and fees.
So for example at my dealership it would breakdown like the
$35,005 for the car
$599 Documentation fee(all dealers have this, it does vary in price though)
$2492.28 sales tax (35,005+599= 35604 multiplied by local tax rate 7%)
$21 ($18 title and $3 lemon law fee, this amount varies by state)

All that together gives you a drive out price of $38,117.28.
That is if you pay MSRP. Hopefully that helped you more than confused you. Like I said earlier, if you can wait a couple months, you'll probably be able to get a discount, just not sure when or how much.

Personally, for $38,000, the '09 A4 Premium is not worth it. For a "Premium" model, the car is pretty much stripped-down.....you don't even get Bluetooth, Xenon headlights, or heated seats as standard equipment. For that price, I would get a '08 Infiniti G35X which comes pretty much loaded.

ya, premium is a bit misleading when you consider its the base model.

What do you call the S Line then in the US? We only have standard, SE and S Line. S Line is the only one with Xenons/LED running lights.

In the US, the S-line is an options package that you can add on to cars with the Prestige package. (In the US, the major trim levels are Premiuim, Premium-Plus, and Prestige).

Default xenon headlights etc..

.....these are included on everything Premium plus and above, as are lots of stuff you pay extra for on 3 series etc. While not so cheap, these new A4s are very nice drivers, much better then the B7's and earlier ones. I am about to trade in a '04 G35 coupe for a B8 PP 2.0L... family needs change and I am sick and tired of changing tires twice a year and all the issues of that. Not to mention that the coupe sucks even with blizzaks in NE no matter what. I figure with the all season tires, I will do just fine.
I tested both '08 328xi and the B8 TFSI cars and they drive amazing similar, I can only conclude that the torque available and tiptronic are a good combo and Audi really did there homework on the handling steering on the new model. I found my local dealer for the B8 much easier to talk to and deal with to this point. I have put down a deposit and am waiting for a car of my color choices to be confirmed. ...fwiw...am also new, so sorry to just jump in...
