Default Windshield Replacement

I got out from work and discovered a big fricking crack in my windshield that wasn't there when I parked it this morning. There's no impact/shatter point, so it seems the glass just failed on its own. Any ideas if this would be covered under the warranty, or if not what a reasonable price to get it replace would be?

if there are no apparent cracks from rocks or something else then i would take it into the dealership and tell them to have a look at it and say that it just cracked during work and tell them the story, maybe brush it up a bit to make it sound good!

Nice. I'm bringing it in to the dealership in a couple days for them to look at... hopefully they have the same philosophy.

Just got back... turned out there was about a 1mm rock chip that started it... I hadn't even seen it. What a rip-off. If my windshield's gonna break cause of a rock, I at least want a big one.

Well...I feel your pain. I had a rock hit mine on the interstate and before I had a chance to get to a Wal-Mart to get the windshield repair kit, I had a crack a foot long.

Anyway, going through Safelite, it cost $578 to replace the windshield....so my insurance deductible was lower than that and I filed a claim.

The dealership quoted me $525, but recommended a 3rd party I could get it from for about $100-150 less (All Star Glass in SoCal area). So I'll get quotes a couple places and see.

Yeah, yesterday was not a good day... coming home I tore a hole in one of my tires. Dang it!
