Oh, yeah the color LCD doesn't serve any additional functionality over the standard screen, just a nicer look.
I wonder if sunroof and power seats were individual options if the customer didn't want to go with the full premium package. I can't confirm that though.

 

My 2006 had the premium package. I have all that and don't have the color LCD. Maybe it was added to that package in 2007+.

 

Interesting, you're right Audi must've changed the package options.

 

My mom has an 05.5 with the premium package and the color LCD. Should have just been standard!

 

Must have just been a standalone option then because I see no rhyme nor reason to why some cars have them and others don't.

 

i thought the color display came with audi nav plus. anyone out there have a color display but no RNS-E?

 

My 05.5 has the color display but Audi Symphony, no nav. On my original window sticker it lists the color display as part of the premium package. So I dunno, but I think we've pretty much determined it serves no additional functionality over the standard red display.

 

I think I heard that all S-line B7 had the Red screen and not the colour, mine has everything in it except nav and titanium package and I have a red screen, unless it was part of nav package because I know it is not part of titanium package.

 

i have an 2007 a4 2.0T convertible and i have the garage opener, the side mirror thing, bose speakers, no nav and no lcd on dash... only the red pixels

 

Maybe it's red pixelly on 2.0T and color on 3.2. Anyone able to disprove that?
