Turbo Lag

Turbo Lag
Hey guys and gals. Just purchased 08' A4 2.0T. Love the car. It could use alittle more hp. I've looked into chips and exhaust. probably going with GIAC chip, Borla exhaust. Been reading the forums and it seems that all the upgrades is going to make the turbo lag even worse. (Only thing I don't like about the car: TURBO LAG) any ideas on how to solve that problem?

RE: Turbo Lag
there is one product that a thread was talking about which basically allows more power available to your use at a lower point in the rpm scale. What it does basically is trick your computer into thinking that the throttle bodies are more open that they actually are so they recieve more of the power than they are normally given. this especially helps with hill starts and what not. it costs about $300 and one guy who bought it said it really helped improve initial power... now let me see if i can find that thread.

RE: Turbo Lag
ok well i was slightly mistaken and this thread wasn't about turbo lag but may still be interesting to you i dunno... you can take it or leave it. but the only real way to avoid turbo lag is to get a variable ratio turbo

RE: Turbo Lag
there shouldn;t be too much turbo lag if your car can breathe properly, turbos as small as the ones that are in the 2.0 are far too small to have a significant amount of turbo lag, an exuast and air filter and possibly the throttle response chip are all likely culprits

RE: Turbo Lag
my old 1.8t with turbo inlet pipe and full exhaust had quicker turbo spool than when with stock. cant say the same with my 2.0t cause i havn't purchased those aftermarket parts. If your not happy with turbo lag then buy a different car, you just have to get use to it, change your driving style or something, having a turbo is much different than a NA car

RE: Turbo Lag
The apr chip seemed to improve the hesitancy off the line, however the turbo still does not kick in right away, but the increase in HP makes it less noticeable, get the chip before proceeding with other mods as numerous posts have noted.
Also I heard the GIAC chip puts more strain on the engine than others but it also increases the performance a bit more, I have read this and the mechanic at 2bennet audimotive mentioned the same... however there are numerous others who have had no problem or issues with it
