Is it True that the Mode Button on the Steering Wheel Doesn't Work?

Not all cars came with the ability to pair a phone (no Bluetooth). My 2008 did not have the feature.
Here is the procedure if you have Bluetooth. It says you have 5 minutes from when you turn the ignition on to complete this:
1. Make sure no other cell phone is currently connected.
2. Turn on ignition
3. On cell phone search Bluetooth enabled devises
4. Connect cell phone to the cell phone package. Your cell phone package calls the cell phone using the name "Audi UHV"
5. Enter "1234" on your phone as the PIN
6. Wait until your phone indicates successful connection.

What navigation was added?
What navigation and Bluetooth system did you add? I have a 2007A for Quattro I just purchased. Has both the mode and looks like a speech or Bluetooth button on the right side of the steering wheel. I think I might upgrade but not sure what kind of navigation system would connect to the steering wheel.
Hey all, I bought my car without the tech package and the button did nothing. I since added a NAV and BT systema n now it works to toggle to my address book. Thought it was stupid to be there until I added the NAV and BT and was very happy I didn't have to replace the wheel!

BT?
My newly purchased '08 B7 cabriolet with symphony radio has the dock in the console for a phone cradle and the original window sticker includes $500 for BT prep. The owners manual tells how to set it up but it doesn't do anything!
Very frustrating because it seems that all of the dealer tech guys were still in kindergarten when this car was built and Motorola flip-phones were the rage!
Anybody have any experience with this?
