Tiptronic problem
Hi,
I drive an 06 audi a4 2.0tdi automatic.
Today, I tried using the tiptronic mode for the first time in weeks.
When I push the gear stick into the slot for the tiptronic the gears display on the screen but won't change when I push the stick forward.
Basically, everything works fine in drive or sport mode but it's stuck in first gear if I try tiptronic mode.
I don't have any idea what could have caused it....
Is this a common problem??
What's involved in fixing it and what cost would be involved.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe the tiptronic select switch imbedded in the printed circuit board in the shifter mechanism.
If your remove your wood grain / aluminum trim bezel by unsnapping it by pulling up near the corners. Remove the shifter ****. By shifting to neutral. Pull out the button and slide a rubber band or zip tie behind it to keep it from going back in. and plastic retainer on the bottom of the **** pops off and slides down. Just pull up hard until it comes off. the whole white plastic piece on top of the shifter is the printed circuit board and a commonly failed component
