Tips for Buying a 2005 1.8L Quattro "Special Edition"
I'm a newbie here. I'm looking to buy a 2005.5 A4 with only 40k miles and listed as having the sports package? What's a good price to pay for this car considering the warranty is about to be up at the end of the month? The private-party seller wants $17,500 . I had the car checked out at a dealer, and it's in excellent condition. The seller has all maintenance records etc.
I pulled the Carfax report. Everything looks good, and the car is described as a 1.8L Quattro Special Edition. How is this different from a "regular" quattro, and also what does the sports pack add that the base model doesn't have?
Thanks for the info guys.

I actually just bought one of these and had the same question. They also have painted lower bumpers as best I can tell. Beyond that, anything else?
Also, does anyone know what the stock HP was for this model? I wanted the UltraSport package, but ran into such a deal on this one, I took it. When playing with the VAG-COM the other night, I calculated ~190hp from the ECU numbers. Did they slide the 190hp into these as well? Something tells me I'm not that lucky, but it is getting to be christmas time. When I was in the VW world, they had different engine codes for the 1.8 when they upped the HP (AWD was 150, AWP was 180 and AWW was a 'tweener for the Wolfsburg that did 170). Is there something I can look at/for on mine?
Many thanks! (and to the OP, I'm very happy with mine and would certainly recommend it)

Get the VIN number and factory option codes from the sticker in your trunk/spare wheel well or the factory maintenance manual; enter the info in the form on the URL above and you will get the factory fitted options for your vehicle including the motor code and other specs

chances are the special edition typically stands for (left over inventory that needs to be liquated) so they paint a bumper here, switch the rim there and call it special edition (this is what the dealer told me) with the ultra sport model im assuming you get an ugrade in suspension generally because that is the easiest and cheapest thing to improve and its one of the most noticable differences in your cars performance so they add a stiffer spring, drop the car an 1inch maybe a stiffer sway bar and they call it the ultrasport model.
as for hp i don;t have a clue but you don't have a b7 a4, odacom is right saying its a 05....special edition just means leftover inventory
my 08 A4 is a ''special edition" and i got an s line bumper, new rims, and i think the bluetooth came standard on my car as well to make it sooo00ooo special
sounds like a really sweet ride, you get quattro, a really solid 1.8 engine and the last bits of the warranty to get the last couple fixes in good luck man!
