A year or two after the 06's were built, the milage for timing belt replacement was changed from 75,000 miles to 115,000 miles for the 2.0t. I think there might have been some typo, since 75,000 miles and 115,000 km are the same. Wonder if someone saw the 115,000 and thought it was in kilometers, and converted it to 75,000 miles, and messed up the original maintenance chart in the process, and jumping the replacement interval to 115,000 miles might have been a quiet correction of a mistake.

It is now 115k MILES. At your own risk of course. If it snaps they will not honor that as a gaurantee. Im pretty sure this was to put you out of warranty if you have a CPO car like me. I'm riding mine to 100k then its trade in time.

i TRADED MY 1.8T B6 at 100k miles no problems. My b7 is in the shop now at 85k getting a head replaced and for a little extra they offered to put one in but i turned them down cause it will be traded in asap as soon as its fixed.

Unless your car didn't come with a manual, I don't know why you would ask a question like this. It's clearly stated in the service interval schedule. FWIW, our '08 2.0T has a timing belt change scheduled for 115k miles.

06 2.0T Quattro Timing Belt
For what it's worth, I'm currently at 73k and changing my own belt this weekend! It should take a while, but there's enough resources out there; i.e. Bently, forums, youtube, etc.
I too experienced some confusion regarding the 75k vs. 115k. In the end, I reasoned that since there is no difference in belt material, size, construction, etc. from B6 to B7, and that the former manufacturer's recommended maintenance interval was 90k (with articles reporting premature belt failure - source: google) it only makes sense that they would have conservatively changed the mileage to 75k going forward. Furthermore, considering the devistating damage that occurs from timing belt failure... why chance it?

My dealer just offered at 85k to toss one on for an extra up charge since the head was off for warranty work. He said it looked perfectly fine and it was not due until 115K. He only recommended it if I was keeping the car a while which I am not. So I declined.

Don't know if the belt material is any different between the B6 and B7, but the shape of the teeth is different. The shape of the teeth on the belt and wheel was changed to allow a bit of slippage on the teeth to reduce stress and wear. The information about the change was highlighted in the service introduction manual that VW has for their techs.
