Default Timing Belt Issues! Skipped a tooth?? Need help

Well just this week while running my car to near redline a couple times right after got a check engine light and rough idle. Motor seems like motor mounts went(but didnt) Car drives smooth when you get at 2k RPM's so i babied it home. Ran a OBD Scan tool and P0340 Camshaft position sensor malfunction. Changed it, same problem came back instantly. So some people say i skipped a tooth on the timing while running it hard??? Car has 76,000 miles now with Apr 93 Stage 2 performance mods. Havent done timing belt yet. Was I lucky it didnt break or what is going on?

Yeah your belt could have slipped. If the belt is in bad shape or the tensioner has died it is possible. If the timing is off this could definitely give the camshaft position sensor an incorrect reading. That would give you P0340 code.

Go to a shop and get your timing checked.
