stuttering/shuddering issues

It might be the dv valve. Could have a small rip in diaphragm and causin boost loss. replace by 60K with the upgrade and check cam follower. Can get both for about $100 and it is a must to replace before they go bad

My two cents worth
I also had this happen to me although mine was a 1996 model. I'm no expert so I just type what I understand was wrong with my car.
The problems eventually got worse until one day it wouldn't run anymore - I was convinced it was fuel pump related.
To make a long story short - it turns out that one of the vacuum release pipes were blocked - this in turn caused a suck/vacuum effect in the tank which caused damaged to the fuel pump wiring (from cap going down to pump) through the years up to the point where it snapped the brown wire.
The way I understand this is that the pump didn't always get power because of this wire not always connecting - until the snap.
Anyways now my car runs fine and smooth again.
