Default speed warning noise - how to turn it off

hi,

first of all.i am new here and i am happy to have found such a busy audi forum.
i live in the emirates and my audi a4 convertible ist end year 2006 2.0t. i just got it and i love it.

one thing i dont know if you guys in america also have in your car installed.
speed warner. not the one you can program i mean the one which comes on at 130km/h and makes a really nasty noise. it sounds exactly like the one
when you leave the lights on, but its a permanent one and it wouldnt stop.

there must be a more or less simple way of switching this off.
i have been googleing and checked also this forum, but could find anything.

has anybody an idea

also i have the radio chorus with cassete and cd changer, mp3 cds are beeing regognized and it playes it as per display, but i can not hear anything.
does it not play mp3 cds anybody knows about it

I have an '07 convertible... definitely a great car!

For the speed warning, I guess that's probably a country-coded thing, cause I have driven above 130 mi/h with nothing. To turn it off you would probably have to get a VAG-COM cable, though I don't know if you could do the $20 ebay cable or would need full version for that.

I would think that if it can read the track names on an MP3 CD to display them that it should be able to play them also, but I can't confirm that.

check if u have the right format for your cd, if its a mp4 an mp3 cd player will reconize but it will fail to play it....as far as your speed warning light

1) getting a chip removes the limiter altogether

2) it could be the one u programmed, just the factory set it at 130km/h

good luck!

You can usually hold the "check" button until a big slash appears over the "MPH" sign... If that is the one you are talking about?

Yeah, same advice as CDO. Just hit the check button again, next to the service "wrench" looking button. It will turn it off. You probably hit it on accident when you were driving and it set it for that speed.
