Default Rear brake question

As I prep for the rear brake job on the 2007 A4 I have a few questions maybe some can help me with. I pulled one rear wheel and removed the caliper so that process should be OK. The question is on the piston. I realize you need to use the piston screw tool but are both the left and right side calipers screwed in clockwise. I seem to recall on my last Jag the passenger side caliper screwed in clockwise and the driver side screwed in counterclockwise. Just wondering if it is now both the same (clockwise). Also do I assume that they will also self adjust. Other than that I see this as another simple pad change. Thanks

I think you need a vag-com tool to retract the brakes as the pistons are controlled electronically...

I do not think you need the Vag-com (not 100% sure on that). They are hydralic (spl?) brakes. Not sure on the direction they need to be spun. Hopefully you can just try and see what happens (that is what I did on my Mustang after I googled how to compress rear calipers).

Thanks , I knew the right side would screw in clockwise but was not sure of the left side. On my 2003 Jag the right side was clockwise and the left side was counterclockwise. I also assume that the hand brake is self adjusting.

OK did the rears yesterday. A piece of cake if you have the right tools. I used a friend rear piston compressor. A snap on tool kit. Both calipers screwed in clockwise and I found taking out a 1/4 cup (using vacuum pump cup) that I didn't need to remove any more brake fluid. I could have left the old pads in because they were half worn but I wanted to replace them with dust free ceramic pads. Rotors were great with less then 1/2mm wear so I left them in. I suspect this will be the last brake job I'll do on this car. It has 52K miles and will most likely be replaced before 100K miles. By the way the Akebono front pads I replaced a few weeks back have not shown any brake dust on the front wheels. So all who are looking to get rid of that black wheel syndrome I would suggest you go with ceramic pads. Oh the rear pads are Wagner quiet ceramic pads. It took me longer to clean the wheels then it did to replace the pads. Merry Christmas
