Default Is it possible to add paddle shifters...?

I just purchased a 2007 A4 quattro. About the only thing it didn't have that I would love to add are the paddle shifters.

It's got the multi-function controls on the steering wheel. Does anyone know if this is an easy change or not?

From what I can gather, I'd need at least a new steering wheel and the shifters themselves. Is the rest of the wiring already in place? Or are there other components I'd need as well.

Not sure but I never even use the Paddles on my GTI. You will never outshift sport mode anyway.

I think everything is in place, you just have to plug in the new wheel and then use VAG-COM to reprogram the car so it knows you have paddle shifters.

^^+1 (assuming you have TIP, as I know nothing about the CVT)
My understanding is: Replace the wheel, and edit the ECU to tell it you have paddles.... POOF.... yer done....

I have my s-line wheel setting here ready to go. I will swap it out soon, but still need to find someone with the VAG software to make the Edit.

Yes, It's tiptronic. By chance, where'd you find the wheel? I've been looking online and haven't found any good sources.

Look at this ... it might fit ...
It's from a 08 A4 ...

And then you can upgrade the paddle shifter with those :

That is exactly the same wheel I bought for my B7. Like the OP, I already had the loaded twin to this (all the controls) except the paddles. Figure I will swap the two, moving my guts (airbag) over, do the VAG thing and be paddle happy. (I got mine off one of the forum classified)

They are hard to find, only because they get snagged quickly. In truth, I paid $250 for mine (used and great condition) but was tired of looking for better deals only to have the few in this price range vanish. So I bit the bullet. I hope to toss my multifunction out on eBay and recoup some of the expense.

Thanks for all the info... Before I bought my '07 A4, I looked at an '07 A4 S-line -- and it appeared to have the identical wheel.

However, when I called up the local Audi Parts shop, they said that the part number referenced in that eBay post is a UK part number -- so they have no idea whether it would work or not.

Does anyone have any idea whether parts like this differ from country to country -- or how/where I can find out?

One other tidbit -- the Audi Parts shop told me that the airbags are different for the two types of steering wheels -- as the standard is a 4-spoke and the one with paddles is a 3-spoke (the airbag cover wraps around between the spokes).

Anyone got a suggestion where to find an airbag at a decent price?

owwww,

Not sure for ya there, sorry

My multifunction is a three spoke, and my S4 paddle wheel is a three spoke, so my bag will swap over easily (I hope!)

hope someone chimes in here with some more help for ya.
