Oil in Intercooler Duct - Normal or Not -HELP
In the process of replacing the radiator fan assembly on 2007 A4 2.0T. When I removed the duct from the intercooler on the drivers side, oil came out. Never had this off before and did not know if it was normal to have some oil in that duct. Thinking that this might be some residual oil from the turbo, but sure would like to know if it is normal to have some oil in there or is there a leak somewhere.

Did not take any pictures, but I did find several internet searches saying that it was not uncommon to find some oil in those ducts. This car has 151k on it and I seriously doubt that those ducts have ever been removed. Not real sure how the oil gets in there, but it might explain why on a few rare occasions I get really black smoke for a couple of seconds when stepping on it. Maybe the turbo is sucking some of it up.

the black smoke is more likely carbon being blown off the valves or from the chamber when stepping on it hard. oil would be blue haze. But I'll have to look into this myself, I'm curious to know more about it and how or why it gets there!
