sorry I or he doesn't have a manual. what is the recommended oil change interval? some say 10000 miles. ..
i'd just keep it in and wait for the 5000 mile mark to change the oil to 5w-40. 0w-30 is thin stuff. my owners manual recommends 5w-40 and if 5W-40 is not available, use 0W-40 or 5W-30. i always change the oil every 5000 miles. turbos are tough on oil.

Hey everyone, I'm currently looking at buying a Certified Pre-Owned 2007 A4 2.0T. Obviously, during my research, the oil burning issue came up. Is this really an issue at all if I just keep on top of checking the oil every once in a while and carrying some oil in my trunk? I realize a premium car like an Audi shouldn't require this, but is this oil burning issue just an annoyance or is it a sign of something far worse?

I appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Some cars do it, some don't and there are different degrees. I change my oil every 5000-6000 miles and I haven't had to top it off yet. I don't baby the car, but I don't tromp on it from every stop, either.

castrol 0w30 isn't thin. I believe this the thickest oil among 30 category. and castrol 5w40 might be the thinnest oil among 40s. 5w and 0w shouldn't have big diff and they only differ during start up.
I'll use 5w40 next time anyways thx

why don't you do a lit of research on castrol engine oil, 0w30 and report back?
there are always noobs saying 5w30 protects the engine better during start up then 0w but guess what it's wrong, at least on vq engine

what should you be expecting from a Nissan owner? I say a hardcore tuner who does research everyday.
what should I be expecting from an Audi owner? just a guy who thinks his rich because he has an Audi? Audis are cheap for what is worth.
