Now I am officially an Audi Owner
Hello everyone. I purchased an '06 A4 Quattro 2.0T between Xmas and New Year's! It has 48,000 miles and I got it certified Q with 2 years/100,000 powertrain warranty. I love this ride! And I want to learn how to care for it so it lasts me several years until I'm ready to trade up. If anyone has this model and has worked on it, improved it, has any suggestions for me, please let me know. I'm fairly novice in taking care of cars - don't do anything on my own and would like to learn. Thanks and enjoy your Audis out there!

Welcome! I've got an '06 2.0T quattro as well (64k miles now). Mine has had a small series of different minor things that it's needed in the past couple years (I bought it almost 3 years ago). Make sure you read the "Important Facts to Know" sticky thread for common issues.
I've needed:
DV (of course)
Engine mount
PCV (another of course and I replaced mine with the BSH redesigned one)
Trunk latch (did that one myself)
N80 valve
All fairly standard stuff. It's currently got a CEL for the thermostat, but I've been putting that one off. Audi wants $500 to replace it which seems like a rip off to me.
Cheers and enjoy--they're nice cars!

Thanks King. I appreciate all that information. I had to look up a couple of those acronyms, but that's a good learning experience for me as I would like to know how to do some of this myself. What did you replace your DV with? I see there are a lot of options - some good and some probably not such a good idea. Glad to have met someone with the same ride as me. Thanks again.

I waited until mine failed and then replaced it with the latest OE revision. Doesn't hurt anything if it fails--you're just driving around without much boost until you fix it. The newer revision is a piston rather than a diaphragm, so it should last forever.

$500 actually seems pretty reasonable. As I understand it, its the same front end teardown to get to the tstat as to do the timing belt and water pump- hence why they usually do all three of those at the same time. Shouldn't hurt you too much to put it off for a bit until you need the tbelt done as well and that way you can save quite a bit by having them do it all at once

Drain the coolant by turning the valve at the bottom of the car CCW until it flows. Pull the hoses off the coolant expansion tank--unscrew the one screw and remove it, unclip and remove the headlight, remove the air tube connected to the throttle body, remove the throttle body, remove accessory belt, remove alternator---its right there staring you in the face. Not a hard DIY by any means. Pleny of very detailed DIY's.
