new member just bought 08 a4 avant, oil pressure low
Hey guys,
Last week, I purchased a 2008 a4 avant, with 93k. THe car comes with a 30 day, 3,000 mile dealer warranty, and a 3 year 3rd party warranty. The service notification came up on the dash, and I pressed the wrench button on the spedo. When I did, the car said there was low oil pressure. (it has been -3 to 10 degrees here in albany). Should I be worried/ can someone better assist me?

Did the car's engine sound louder than normal, with clatter? Twice now my car has been set out in freezing conditions for about a week or so, and when I went to start it, I got the noise and as soon as the rpm's got off idle, the low oil pressure notification came on. The car had to sit for a day with some heat before it would start without the noise. The dealer thought somehow the oil take up tube to the head somehow got iced and blocked the oil.

Update: I returned the car to BMW of Ridgefield where I purchased the car. They gave me a rental, and they've sent the car to Danbury Audi to get it checked out... I should be covered because this car is covered by the dealer for 30days/3000miles.

yea i live in CNY and the other day got a low oil pressure warning and rough/loud idle. let it sit a min, turned it off, restarted and let it sit fora min and then it was fine. i use full synthetic 0w-40 oil and obviously still have issues. this was the second or third time in the 5 yrs ive owned the car. i assume its the negative temps. that cause the oil to be sluggish or thick or whatever happens to cause issues with getting it flowing quickly enough for the engine to tolerate
