Welcome to our community! Personally i do agree with your decision about the RX8, if it were an RX7 i would think twice LOL. How many miles are on your car? 2.0T or 3.2L?
Maybe we can help you out by letting you know about maintenance issues that may arise at your current mileage.

well i tried to do as much research on the 2.0t as possible...i found some good stuff on vwvortex on the 2.0 motor...ive long been a vw/audi fan so i know quite a lot about the 1.8t but not so much about the 2.0 lol

the car has 51000 miles on it...

any extra help would be much appreciated!

There are only a few differences from the 1.8T to the 2.0T. The biggest difference is the 2 liter is an FSI motor, meaning its direct injection like a diesel. It requires much higher fuel pressure to run so it has a high pressure fuel pump mounted on top of the engine which is run by the intake camshaft. So if you want to mod the engine beyond just a chip you will need to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump, or have APR rebuild yours. A new pump costs about $1,000, a rebuild is around $650.
The engine internals are good for about 400 horsepower max, but you can change that of course.
www.atpturbo.com sells many turbo kits for your vehicle, including a couple FMIC kits, just don't purchase their tuning, its crap.
Go with, Revo, APR, GIAC, or Unitronic tuning. There are a few more companies out there that do good work, but i can't speak for them personally.
What else do you need to know about the motor?

i was thinking i would go with APR when the time came...but im not going to be doing any high HP mods...

another thing i would like to know though is how many lbs of boost these motors run...i thought it was 11-13 or so and is it still a side mount intercooler like the 1.8T's?

i did just do my first mod though! Europlate that came off my mk2 jetta project that has been sitting around for about 2 years looking for a new home lol

will post some pics when im not so lazy hah

Congrats and welcome. You'll love it. Plus there are alot of opportunities to mod this engine.
