Modifed my stock airbox. 2008 A4 2.0
I took apart my air box today to see if I thought there could be any improvement I could do to it to make it breath any better.
One thing I noticed it is a better designed airbox than my old Jetta GLI 2004.5.
It has two entrances for cool air to supply the airbox.
I noticed the structural ribbing is pretty close to the internal velosity stack, could possibly cause disturbance of airflow & make it hard for the air to enter the velosity stack..
I ground down the ribbing a little near the velosity stack air entry way area, ,but not completely,,,,even though I think you can take out the ribbing completely w/out causing any weakening of the airbox itself.
Second thing I noticed was the large entrance for the airbox was not as big as it could be.
This is the one that gets the cold air from just behind the front grill.
I inlarged that area to match the 90 degree plastic piece w/the pre filter intalled.
I do need to take some pics so maybe you could understand what I am trying to say here.
I ordered a K&N filter,,,so before I will install it I will take some pics.
So, all in all,the stock airbox looks pretty good IMO.
Only thing I would like to see is a larger airbox especially near the air entry for the velosity stack,it's pretty tight area for the air to go into the velosity stack..
