Default Mileage life on Pirelli P6 Four Seasons

I am just curious as to the life expectancy for the Pirelli P6 Four Season tires that were put on some of our cars when new. How many miles did you get out of the tires before they needed replacing.? My tires have a way to go yet, but I would just like to plan ahead.

My front tires just went bald after 7k miles. However, my rear ones still have plenty of tread. It all depends on how hard you drive.

I thought about the conti's, but read about a problem they have been having with sidewall blowouts. I read somewhere that there might be a class action in the works about it. I will have to do some more research and see what happens.

I have heard lot of A3 folks complain about the Pirellis that came with the
car, regarding excessive road noise. What you guys think?

The original Conti's that came with mine are pretty much gone(am at 45K), and having
them replaced this week along with the scehdule maintenance. Was thinking of going with
Conti's again, didn't know about the class action. Let's see what the dealer
recommends ...

I have heard that noise is a complaint about the Pirelli's on other review sites. I can also say that my Pirelli's are a little noisy. My father even commented about the tire noise when he was with me for a two hour trip.

So the dealer came back with a quote of $890 for 4 tires(Conti Pro Contact,
$180/tyre + labour, etc.). Checked with tirerack.com, it's $150.

And the local America's Tires offered the same at $770 (and a free GPS,
would you believe that :-)) He suggests Michelin is the best for A4s(offered
$850).

Think I'll go with America's tire. What is your opinion on Conti vs Michelin?
Thanks in advance.

I got 60k out of mine and I'm driving all over the place for my sales job. I just bought some Conti DSW's...they're sweet, much quiter than the P06's and they get great reviews from Tirerack and Consumer Reports.
