Exclamation Ignition Coil failure for 3.0 engine

Got stranded Monday on I79 and after tow trip to dealer, all ignition coils (6) replaced in a hour and on my way. Does this sound like a common thing for 2006 3.0 quattro A4 with 32,000 miles on it? PS, dealer had replaced spark plugs on three days earlier (Friday) as part of normal 12 mo./10k service.

Just had all 4 ignition coils replaced in my 2005 TT with just 25000 miles on the clock - is this a common problem with Audis? I intend to make a fuss under UK consumer law.

Question Ignition Coils

I am not sure about coil failures as common problem but mine occurred right after spark plugs were changes. Does this sound similar.

John,

I just bought a certified pre-owned Audi A4 2.0T from Sewickley BMW in July. Two days after I bought the car I was driving from Sewickley to Hartford and broke down on I-80 just outside of State College. I was towed to the dealership in SC, and I had to have 4 ignition coils and 4 spark plugs replaced. What their mechanic told me was that the dealership most likely used a power washer to clean/detail under the hood and it destroyed the coils. If you had your car serviced at Sewickley BMW/Audi/Porsche I would say you might be in the same boat I was in. I would avoid going back to that dealership at all costs if I were you.

Also about a week ago I broke down on the way home from work. I was towed to the local dealership up here in Hartford and they told me that I needed a new fuel pump and a catalytic converter. Anybody ever hear of the fuel pump and cat going bad within 4 years or 40k miles?

Default Ignition Coils

I did have car serviced in Sewickley as you suspected. Repair was done at South Hills Audi and they fixed it so quickly it made me start this thread. Thanks for tip.
