Idle hunts & whissle @ idle.
Could not see the flucuation w/the tach but could definately hear it & feel it.
Also had a CEL on.
This was going on for a week ,then got an appointment @ a Audi dealer, but at a couple days before we took it in,there was a loud high pitch squeeling ,sorta sounded like the front brakes squeeling, but it was not the brakes.
My wife took her car in because the idle was hunting/surging @ 850 RPM or so,also a CEL & loud whistle
Anyways, the dealer rep knew exactly what it was & said it would take about an 1/2 hr to fix it.
The part they changed was a PCV,,they called it a power control valve,,,is that the diverter/blow off valve?
Thanks
Car runs great again.

The dealer called it a power control valve,my question is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is the power control valve a diverter valve A.K.A. blow off valve that recirculates back into the intake system?
Is this the part that fails when running higher boost pressure than stock boost levels?..... I think the factory has a platic diaphram?
The upgrade is a forge diverter valve. Like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Thanks

When my PCV valve was defective I had a little oil being pushed out around the filler cap. Also my performance was a bit off. There was no strange noises coming from the engine though. And yes, PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation. Your mechanic may have meant
the diverter valve?
