Default How to turn off seatbelt ding!

Ok,

I am a firefighter/paramedic and wear my seatbelt 100% of the time. But I seriously can not stand the seatbelt ding in this car. Whenever I stop and place the car in park and take my seatbelt off that thing FREAKS out! Unless I shut the car off it continues to scream like a angry Mexican! I looked all threw the manual to see if there is a way to tone it down. I see nothing.... Any hope for deporting this guy?

Thanks,

2007 A4 2.0T

Yup, you need to get a VAG-COM cable: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...gh-*Revisited*

On my manual transmission A4, you can leave the engine running with the car in neutral and parking brake pulled, and unbuckle the belt and to shut off the chime, open and close the drivers door and the chime will shut off.

Thanks for the link, Paul. My cable is on its way from Hong Kong and I look forward to banishing two of the only things that irritate me about my A4--the incessant seat belt dinging and having to push the unlock button on the fob twice. I'll probably do the Euro lights and the remote up/down windows too just for fun!

If nothing else the ding annoys people into wearing their seatbelts

its a Coding thing. But its a federal requirment for all Audi's in North America to have this feature.

So if you sell this car, make sure you change it back. You could be held liable

It's been a while since I bought a NEW car, but when I last did, the only requirement was that it have some sort of chime. I don't mind the initial ding to remind you to buckle up--it's the repeating of it incessantly every 20 seconds when you're just sitting in either seat that drives me up the wall. I think Audi/VW is going above and beyond the call of duty with the way they designed it. They're not the only ones doing it, though.

The repeat chimes are the only thing I'm interested in stopping.

On mine i just disconected the plugs under the seat. On the driver side is a small cable that comes from the belt mechanism, and on the passenger side comes from under the seat, cause is the person weight that turn the signal on.
I have them unplugged for 4 years and had no problems.
