I am a new member and also a new car buyer. I am considering buying a used A4 and am debating over a 2008 A4 w/ 33,400 miles @ $18,000.

1. is this a good deal? to me it does seem to come at a good value.
2. how much is an extended warranty on the car and how much does maintenance cost for such a vehicle on a year over year basis?

any comments, suggestions, advice would go a long way!

I do understand that some of my questions may be a bit simplistic and with more research I could figure it out, but I figured it would be much easier and more personable if someone with experience could reach out.

That seems like a pretty decent price. How much the extended warranty would cost depends on who you bought it from and what all options you got. As you long as you perform the regular maintenance and check a few things, most of the costs are fairly low.

 

When I enquired about CPO vs no CPO warranty, the difference was $1000. Also as part of the CPO, if the tires and brakes are more than half worn, they have to be replaced. My rotors were warped, and I got them replaced before the car left the lot. I ended up with a CPO with new tires and rotors, at 34,500 miles. I've only had a couple of minor non mechanical problems. Couple of them were more of a minor annoyance than anything else. Love the quattro in the snow.

 

From my experience I Bought my 05.5 from a used auto lot... they were trying to sold me on the extended warranty and even though it cost 2k for 3 years 36k miles it was worth it... Warranty has already paid out 4k in repairs.
