It is worth it if you want more hp and a power band that pulls to redline.

I say go for the K04. There are some reasonable kits. The price is good for the big turbo's but internals may be required which is something I care never to get into.

There are more BT's out there being looked into now. I know a couple guys in the middle of builds with GT3071Rs. Any big turbo will require a lot of extra work. A K04 is not considered a big turbo BTW. You will need rods/pistons, HPFP, cam/lobe, injectors, clutch/flywheel, FMIC, and usually a custom tune. Is it worth it? I say yes, if you have the extra money.
